The following suspected adverse effects have been reported following clinical use.
Vetmedin is available in chewable tablets in two sizes.
Affected dogs may vomit after eating or may need to take more frequent trips outdoors due to urgent bowel movement.
Not for use in humans.
Diarrhea and loss of appetite may occur.
Patients should be treated symptomatically.
Typically the medication is administered every 12 hours ideally one hour before mealtime.

At 3 and 5 times the recommended dosage administered over a 6 month period of time pimobendan caused an exaggerated hemodynamic response in the normal dog heart which was associated with cardiac pathology see animal safety.

Other potential side effects include loss of coordination seizures and uneasiness.
Upset stomach the most common side effects of pimobendan are upset stomach symptoms.
Tachycardia may be dose dependent and avoided by reducing the dose.
Allergic reactions including hives and labored breathing appetite loss staggering lethargy cough.
Allergic reaction labored breathing hives etc.
Vomiting is a rare side effect of the drug.
