The suction was too strong that the vacuum became difficult to move. The suction on a vacuum is meant to lift dirt particles out of the fibers but if it is placed too close to the carpet backing it can actually lift the carpet slightly off the padding underneath. Block the air flow and the vacuum seals itself to the carpet and is hard to push. A vacuum that is too low for the carpet can not only be impossible to push through the fibers it can also be damaging to the carpet.

I think the vacuum will get easier to push after you have vacuumed the carpet 2 3 times. For a vacuum cleaner to glide easily on a carpet air must flow into the nozzle and through the machine. It is normal for the height adjustment to be slight. There is no way to increase the height with different wheels.

I called dyson technical support and they suggested i remove the rope seal on the inside of the vacuum head. Check the rotator brush and wheels. Most vacuums have height settings. The vacuum would actually suck in the carpet and get stuck to the floor.

Replace the brush belt.
